MY POTTERY designs are influenced by Egyptian, Mayan, and Aztec aesthetics. Stoneware clay, fired to a toasty brown, is carved and often has stamped or beaded designs. I use various colored oxides to enhance my patterns, and bold blue, green, lavender, turquoise, iron and white glazes to symbolize my love for the flowing beauty of the ocean and beaches near my home in Santa Cruz.

MY PHILOSOPHY is to create pieces that are both beautiful and functional. I see my work as sculpture and painting combined with useful function. The clay is my canvas for design, and classic forms are my inspiration.

I CREATE large stoneware vases, bowls, canisters, platters, planters, hand built slab vases and bottles. I primarily work with stoneware clay; occasionally I use porcelain with stoneware as part of the design process.

The beautiful beach town of Santa Cruz, California is where I have a home/studio, and create all my art.
